Being here was one of the most surreal moments of my life. We were running really late to White Sands. As we drove as fast as the speed limit could allow, we anxiously watched the sky start darkening as it got closer to sunset. We made it to the ticket gate with just 40 minutes to spare, and it took another 10 minutes or so of driving to reach the closest parking area for exploring and photography. We spent pretty much just 30 minutes total at the park, but it was so wild and surreal to watch the sky change from pastel shades to deep burning sunset colors, with each passing moment giving the white sands and park a whole different feel than it was just seconds ago. We watched the sun finally set and quickly ran back to our car as it was freezing out there.
