I had originally planned to take a day trip to the Palace of Versailles, but I was just not looking forward to the long waiting lines and crowds of tourists fighting to take pictures and move around. I also know my boyfriend isn’t a fan of large crowds either … maybe even more than me! I know it is one of those places you have to see once in your lifetime, so maybe next time we will brave the palace! Instead, we decided to go to Palais Garnier, which was just beautiful, exquisite, and breathtaking! It was honestly the perfect place to go to for us. It wasn’t crowded at all, and we were able to take our time enjoying each room and taking everything in. I have too many favorite things about this place – the light coming in through the windows, the chandeliers, spotting little details like “telephone” on the wall (the graphic designer in me has a huge love for French typography) … and of course, the opulence of the gold interior of the Grand Foyer! I really wanted to see a room full of “gold” while in Paris, and this definitely satisfied my heart’s little desire.
