Musée d’Orsay houses the largest collection of Impressionist and post-Impressionist artwork in the world. It also used to be a train station, which only added to my enthusiasm to come here. I’m always fascinated when old, unused spaces are revitalized into something new and beautiful. The museum was airy and spacious and with so many rooms! There were also multiple floors, so it was exciting to see what awaited us on each one. We came across a beautiful dining room with a gilded ceiling, brightly colored chairs, and chandeliers, and then later we stumbled upon Cafe Campana, which had dazzling bell-like, gold lighting fixtures and whimsical decor. My most memorable moment here, besides the aimless wandering through each room after room, was walking into the room with Van Gogh’s art and turning a corner only to lay my eyes on his painting of Starry Night Over the Rhone. My heart just about stopped beating! It was a beautiful thing to behold.
Since we went to Musée d’Orsay, we decided not to go to the Louvre because we didn’t have enough time. But next time, hopefully we can go! But nonetheless, I was really happy with our time at Musée d’Orsay – definitely a must-see!
