Le Cinq, which is due for a separate post (the experience was just so amazing that I feel like I need more time to think about what to say), was our first three-star Michelin and hotel restaurant we ate at. Since we loved the experience so much and were just delighted overall with the food we were having in Paris, we looked up other highly regarded restaurants in Paris and found out that L’Epicure of Le Bristol was rated the world’s best hotel restaurant. Since we didn’t know when would be the next time we’d come to Paris, we decided to try our luck and see if we could secure a reservation at the restaurant. After exchanging a few emails with the kindest and most courteous people at L’Epicure trying to see if they could squeeze us in, we were able to reserve lunch! And yes, it was an amazing experience!

We got the lunch prix fixe meal of 4 courses, although really if you include the amuse bouche and pre-dessert and even the endless helpings of bread, it’s almost like 6-8 courses. I can’t say exactly what I ate – I mostly just stared at the food with my eyes wide and in awe while our waiter explained each dish – the food was just presented so beautifully and I couldn’t wait to dig in. The presentation made the designer in me so happy in every way. My favorite dish was the roasted pigeon with asparagus. And the baguette? And butter? Yes, I can have that all day, and I can never see store-bought baguettes here in the U.S. the same. The dessert was also phenomenal. It was a blackberry tea-infused chocolate dessert, and it’s the first dish I truly feel I can say I was eating art. I mean, chocolate twigs and gold leaves? Yes!!!
